Indonesian men like women with big legs

For Indonesian residents of Karo Batak, women with large feet are much more attractive than those with small feet.

Previous researchers said that men around the world like women with small feet. The whisker also uses the foot size to assess women's age and fertility. Women's feet will widen with age and during pregnancy, so many of them often do not want to be pregnant to keep the attraction when owning small feet.

According to many scientists, because of evolution women have feet smaller than men, this happens in every part of the world. But in the new study, Geoff Kushnick, a University of Washington anthropologist, found an exception, Karo Batak in Indonesia likes women bigger feet.

Kushnick gave 159 people Karo Batak aged 19 to 90 years to see 5 photos of women. These photos are identical, only different in size. As a result, participants said that they felt that women with big feet were the most attractive, and women had little attractive feet.

Kushnick said Karo Batak residents like women with big legs because it expresses the strength and ability to work in the field.

"I have heard people say: We are farmers, why should there be a wife with small feet? How can she help in the rice field? ' , Livescience quoted Kushnick as saying.

The reason why this person likes small feet, the other person is not the environment and communication. Specifically, urban residents prefer smaller feet than rural people. On the other hand, Western media information also affected many residents, making them like small feet.

The study does not rule out an evolutionary view of women's small foot size, but humans can also adapt to the environment to adjust to the situation, Kushnick said.
