Scientists say they observed fire and dust clouds rising to 4,000 meters from the mountain this Monday. Experts also warn of hot lava that can spread to the evacuation of local people if a major eruption occurs. They also advised people to wear masks to avoid the harmful effects of dust and smoke.

There are still about 2,000 people still in the area considered dangerous by local officials set to a radius of 8 km from Gamkonora tops. With a height of 1,635 meters, this is considered the roof of Halmahera island in Northern Maluku province
