NASA's spacecraft assembly building, home to many famous missiles and shuttles, is a limited place to visit.
The Vehicle Assembly Building (VAB) at NASA's Kennedy Space Center in Florida, USA, is the only place today to assemble missiles that bring people to other worlds, according to Futurism. VAB was inaugurated in 1966, three years before people set foot on the Moon. This 2,664,883m3 large area is one of the world's largest buildings by volume .VAB was built in the early 1960s to place the Saturn V rocket for the Apollo program, then used to accommodate the shuttle launch configuration.Currently, the building is being used for the completion of the SLS, the rocket takes the first astronauts to Mars.
As one of the many important bases in the plan to send people to remote places in NASA's solar system, VAB is an area that limits visitors and is not open to visitors since 2014. American Flag Paint on the wall surface of VAB 1976 was the largest in the world. Each star on the flag has a width of 1.83 meters. The green part of the flag is as big as a regular basketball court.
Some Apollo structures were abandoned in the VAB.NASA doesn't clean them up because it costs more than not.
The highest place in VAB is 52 stories high, called "The High Bay" .It consists of 4 vertical corridors with doors 139 meters high and takes up to 45 minutes to fully open.
The lower part includes many large spaces used to store missile parts until needed.A transport corridor leads to the central area, connecting the spaces.
There are 5 high cranes inside VAB, two of which can lift the volume up to 325 tons.
A wall in VAB is signed by the shuttle project members over the years.
The storage area studies the Columbia ship located on the 16th floor. The room contains more than 80,000 items from a failed mission.
The space inside the building was so large that it had its own weather.Rain clouds form under the ceiling on particularly wet days.
