The candles burned with sacred flames lit the Holy Church in Jerusalem in April 2011, according to Live Science. The church is built on the tomb of Jesus. The building in the center of the domed church is Edicule , which means "small room" in Latin, built around the grave.Since 1555, marble slabs were erected around the stone base in the tomb, the location believed to be the place of the corpse of Jesus after his death.(Photo: Uriel Sinai / Stringer).
The conservation group is led by the National University of Technology, Athens, in conjunction with National Geographic to carry out a project to renovate the building.Three church management churches approved the request for renovation in 1958, but nearly half a century later, the churches agreed on the restoration project and collected enough funds.(Photo: Oded Balilty / National Geographic).

Conservation began at the end of October 2016, marking the first time in history that all marble slabs were turned up. A thick layer of dust beneath the grave. Scientists were surprised when the structure of the cave was as pristine as it was at the time, the archaeologist Fredrik Hiebert of National Geographic, an excavation team member who was the first to open the grave, said. The workers flipped open the marble slab over the "burial bed" , where Jesus rested after being executed. Marble slabs protect the rock bed from being damaged by vandals and graffiti, according to Robert Cargill, an archaeologist and author of "The City of the Bible".(Photo: Dusan Vranic / National Geographic).
When fixing the marble slab during the restoration process, the conservation team discovered that they were used from the stones used in 1400 and 1100. The slabs will be fixed with mortar to protect the building permanently.(Photo: Uriel Sinai / Stringer).
