The cheap laptop is part of a $ 1 billion investment fund proposed by Intel to promote the use of computers in schools, cafes and public places in developing countries over the next five years. .

"Eduwise" is designed by Intel but the installation phase will be done by a partner computer company. According to Paul Otellini, this cheap computer will be available next year. Reportedly, many other high-tech firms such as AMD, Microsoft . also announced similar initiatives to help shorten the number of developed and developing countries.

Currently one Laptop Per Child (affiliated with Massachusetts Institute of Technology) is working on a project to supply millions of low-cost computers ($ 100 / unit) to students in countries: China, India, Saudi Arabia, Brazil, Thailand, Nigeria and Argentina.

On Intel's side, Otellini also said Intel has reached an agreement to provide the Mexican government with cheap PC shipments (100% new) by the end of the year. These computers will be distributed to about 300,000 teachers nationwide.
