Intel is preparing to announce three new processors
Intel is expected to announce several new processors between now and early 2006. The world's largest chip maker will also list new prices for processors next year.
Two new processors, Pentium IV 672 and Pentium IV 662, support virtualization technology introduced by Intel next month. Meanwhile, Celeron D 355 promises to bring greater clock speed than the other chips of the same type. Celeron D 355 will be announced on December 25, along with Intel's announcement of the new 65nm technology chips for PCs and laptops.
Prices for Pentium IV 672 and 662 will be similar to those of Pentium IV 660 and 670, which means 605USD and 401USD. The Celeron D 355 will cost about $ 127. Intel will cut prices for all other Celeron D series in January 2006 when it announced new processors using 65nm technology.
Also related to processor news, Intel's rival, AMD, recently reduced the price of Athlon 64 chips to 20% after announcing a price cut for most other desktop chips.
The new pricing applies to AMD desktop chips that are cheaper than Intel's corresponding chips. The price of the Athlon 64 3200+ is reduced to US $ 155, 5% cheaper than the Intel Pentium IV 521, and 14.8% cheaper than the Pentium IV 531 (178USD).
