Inventing drugs that make people live longer

A new study has invented a drug that slows down the aging process, which is the key for people to live longer and live healthier when they get older.

US researchers discovered a protein called SIRT1. It is known that this protein helps increase longevity, improve health, reduce cholesterol and even prevent diabetes.

The study, led by Dr Rafael de Cabo of the Department of Aging at the National Institutes of Health, tested the effect of a small molecule activating SIRT1 called SIRT1720 on the health and longevity of experimental mice. .

Dr Cabo said: 'We have seen SIRT1 make the mice's lifespan last longer and improve their health as they follow a standard diet'.

Thanks to SIRT1, the average life expectancy of rats could increase to 8.8%.

This protein also reduces body fat weight, improves the function of the muscles of these experimental mice.

Not only that, SRT1720 also lowers total cholesterol and LDL cholesterol levels to protect against heart disease. And improve the sensitivity of absorbing insulin to help prevent diabetes.

Scientists say that besides SIRT1, there are SIRT2 , two sister proteins that play an important role in metabolism. They participate in DNA repair and regulate genes that help prevent diabetes, heart disease and cancer.

Although this study is being tested in mice, it will soon be tested on humans.
