Iron spiders carry people on the water

If you come across this canoe, we might think that it only appears in James Bond movies, but that might be a means of going to sea in the future.

Proteus, the name of a spider-shaped boat, is placed on two large tubes containing air so it can "dance" on the waves. Marine Advanced Research (USA) designed the boat to conduct ocean research. However, the design team said it could be used as a future tourist boat with the capacity to carry up to 12 people.

Design experts assert that the Proteus is very light, so its fuel consumption is much lower than that of similar sized boats. Future traffic is made of titanium, aluminum and connected to the two bodies by means of vibration. The joints are spring-loaded and have a shock absorber to prevent waves.

Two propulsion chambers, diesel engines and support systems are attached to the two bodies by special couplings, which help the propeller stay immersed in water at all times.

Proteus's fuel tank can hold more than 9,000 liters of diesel, allowing it to travel a continuous journey of up to 9,000 kilometers. At that time its total mass was 12 tons, but engineers insisted it was still gliding on the water like a speedboat.

A spokesman for Marine Advanced Research said: "Proteus is bringing a whole new experience of moving on the water. This flexible, lightweight canoe can cater to individual travel needs, Underwater, as well as scientifically, Proteus differs from traditional canoe in that it can be launched at high speeds even in high waves .
