Japanese people rushed to buy 'freezer masks' to avoid heat

According to information posted on Japanese media news, the northeastern part of the country began to enter the early days of May with hot weather over 30 degrees in many places. In response to this situation, a business in Yamagata Prefecture began selling "ice masks" to cool customers. These masks are sold through vending machines that have a cooling function with a temperature of only 4 degrees.

The company's main business was initially as textiles like sweaters, but its volume dropped sharply due to the effects of the Covid-19 epidemic. In mid-March, the head of the company, Mr. Keto Goto, began manufacturing masks after consulting with other local small and medium-sized businesses. Goto has also come up with a plan to sell "masking masks" through vending machines.
