Known plants destroy themselves

Austrian scientists claim that plants also have the ability to self-destruct a part of the body, in response to an attack.

A team of biologists from the University of Vienna (Austria) conducted many tests to prove that, when attacked by disease, the plant actively kills one or more parts of the body to protect itself. The death of the selected parts causes the disease to end, and also reduces the attractiveness of the plant to animals and insects.

" The phenomenon of self-removal of branches and leaves of trees occurs naturally in nature, but most of us think that they die because of overheating or ultraviolet rays (reaching the earth through holes in the ozone layer That's the wrong idea: Most plants always choose the parts that will be removed if the risk comes, "said Andreas Bachmair, team leader.

Bachmair thinks plants must develop more self-defense tactics than animals because they cannot escape. Some previous studies have shown that plants also have an immune system (in the form of chemicals) to counteract harmful agents, such as fungi.
