The Korean Food and Drug Administration (KFDA) said the government has allowed the production and sale of a capsule called Shupect, produced by the pharmaceutical company Ilyang.

Shupect is the 18th drug developed in Korea and functions to treat chronic granulomatous leukemia (CML) and is applicable to patients with Gleevec greasy, leukemia medications present.

Ilyang Pharmaceutical Company said that thanks to the development of this new drug, Korea could save the cost of paying foreign drug rights more than 52.1 million USD / year.

Along with that, the company will raise the competitiveness in the market for drugs to treat leukemia in the world with a value of more than 5 billion USD.
