The first satellite of the Asgardia project built a preparatory universe to be launched into Earth orbit.
Dr. Igor Ashurbeyli, the lead scientist of the Asgardia project, announced that the first satellite in the satellite system constituting "cosmic nation" will be launched into orbit in August 2017, according to New Atlas.
Asgardia is an ambitious project, derived from the idea of building a satellite system on Earth orbit large enough to accommodate millions of people. The project has attracted more than 200,000 subscribers, of which 17% are female.

"Last year in Paris, when we launched Asgardia, many people doubted if we could ever get anything into space , " Dr. Ashurbeyli said during a press conference on June 12. "But today I can confidently declare that we will launch the Asgardia-1 satellite into space."
The Asgardia-1 satellite measures 10x10x20cm, weighs 2.8kg, carrying data of names and images of the first Asgardia citizens. The earliest 100,000 subscribers are granted 300kb of data, 200kb for the next 400,000 and 100kb for 1 million people after that.

According to Dr. Ashurbeyli, Asgardia-1 is the first step to pave the way for the great leap of mankind, laying the foundation for building a satellite network capable of protecting the Earth from asteroids and solar storms. , cosmic garbage created by humans and other hazards.
June 18 was chosen as the National Unification Day of Asgardia. In addition to having a new calendar, citizens of Asgardia will begin voting through the national flag, badges, national anthem and draft constitution being drafted in the past 6 months.
The draft constitution of Asgardia is said to be harmonious and consistent with the basic aspects of nations. Dr. Ashurbeyli declared himself the head of Asgardia for the first five years before parliament was established. He is confident the United Nations will recognize Asgardia's "cosmic nation" in early 2018.
