In the film there is a character who declares, "Something terrible is happening in my house". Although this episode is fictional, the whole story is based on real things, which happened at a house in the town of Harrisville, Rhode Island (USA).
This house consists of 14 rooms and a large farmhouse belonging to the family spanning 8 or 8 generations. During this time, they suffered many strange tragedies, including the death of children by suicide, drowning or even murder.
The most terrible case that happened at this house is said to be carried out by a woman named Bathsheba Sherman . The locals believed that Sherman was a witch, and killed a baby by sticking a sewing needle into his brain. After her death, Sherman and other spirits are said to have been trapped around the house.
Described in the movie "The Conjuring," the Perron family moved into the house in 1971 and immediately began experiencing strange things.

Carolyn Perron, the oldest woman in the house, began to notice that items were missing one after another, and piles of dirt suddenly appeared on the floor after she cleaned it.
Things don't just stop there. Every morning at 5:15, the house reeked of decay and made inexplicable noises.
Once, Carolyn Perron felt a sharp pain in her leg and discovered a needle-like wound, even though there was no such item in the house. Terrified, she went to psychics, exorcists, shamans. but they all shook their heads and left.
As in "The Conjuring", the family finally got help from psychic husband and wife Ed and Lorraine Warren - one is a demographer and the other is a clairvoyant.
This couple has come to this house many times to research and perform a necromancy. During this summoning, Mrs. Carolyn is said to have been possessed by a demon, began to speak strange languages and even floated.
The real-life Warrens also confirmed that there were spirits in the house, and they couldn't even exorcise them completely.

"We have a lot of respect for the spirits. We lived with them. It was their home , " said Andrea Perron, one of the family members.
Andrea also confirmed that almost everything that happens in the movie happens, and is even partially toned down.
When the Perrons left the house in 1980, another family immediately moved in. These people also reported encountering strange, supernatural phenomena.
Specifically, they heard loud banging in the walls and in the ceiling. The family's carpets are constantly soiled, and many scratches also appear continuously throughout the house.
"We had to jump up and down many times in fear," said one member.
