Both the city of Norilsk, Russia, was submerged in the white of snow as the temperature dropped sharply.
The city of Norilsk is experiencing a so-called phenomenon, in which people will not see the sun for more than 6 weeks.Having been in the dark all day, they had to face heavy snowfall and snow storms.
Norilsk has been dubbed the "world's coldest city" with a background of heat falling to -55 degrees C. These days, parking lots seem to disappear.Just 5 minutes outdoors, the drivers had to work hard to find their car under thick snow.
They also no longer recognize the turnoffs because the roads are covered with white.
A local woman could only shake her head as she watched the road leading to the cash machine in Sberbank. "Exercise in the cold is the best," she joked.
Snow even climbed to the second floor of the city buildings with 175,000 inhabitants.
The temperature this week in Norilsk is -27 degrees Celsius and some people have to dig through a thick meter of snow to get into the house.
Snow plows were unable to cope with the heavy snow from December 15 and the roads to the neighboring towns were blocked.
