Malaysia develops new technology for the military
The Defense Science and Technology Research Institute of Malaysia (STRIDE) has developed a camouflage coating technology for military vehicles, with paint that can be mixed with its natural environment.
A camouflage pattern developed by STRIDE
Wan Sala Wan Hassan, director of electrical and instrumentation technology at STRIDE, says computers help create camouflage patterns of any size, including small dots. These patterns can be applied to almost any vehicle and are particularly suited to Malaysia's natural environment in daylight and night conditions.
Wan Salwa said that the technology also fully meets the requirements and international military standards.
STRIDE is helping Malaysia's Ministry of Defense to import defense technology to create in-country applications in hopes of producing more domestic weapons in the future.
The main objective of STRIDE is to carry out research and development (R & D) activities, to assess, provide information and provide scientific advice to the armed forces as well as defense.
This year and next year, the Malaysian government allocates 10 million ringgit (about US $ 3.34 million) to develop R & D projects for national defense.
