Malware will adapt to Vista very quickly
Although previous Microsoft executives praised Vista's level of security, one of Microsoft's top security experts bluntly declared Vista's security will not hinder the situation. Current security must change a lot.
Speaking at the CanSecWest Security Conference held in Vancouver, Mark Russinovich, an expert with Microsfot's Services and Platforms section, said hackers and malicious code would quickly "adapt" to Vista.
Russinovich said that the User Account Control system in Vista could prevent malicious code from making changes to the operating system, but we cannot treat it as a security barrier.
The malicious programming technology will be transformed. Hackers will find a way to trick users into allowing malicious code to be executed at the appropriate priority for its destructive effect.
For example, there are now types of malicious code that can infect and perform its capabilities without high-level access.
Malware programmers will find a way to simply break into a normal user environment but still be able to kidnap the PC, Mr. Russinovich predicts.
