In April 2016, a magnitude 7 earthquake struck at least 49 people were killed, 3,000 wounded and destroyed a series of houses in Kyushu province.

The remarkable thing is that the houses inside the resort at a height of nearly 550m are unharmed, thanks to the dome-shaped design with light weight. However, the resort was forced to close four months after the disaster and reopened in August 2016.

Visitors here can enjoy the outdoor hot spring bath experience, shopping, dining and overnight inside 480 domed houses located on the volcano. Outside each house is decorated with enough colors and images of cartoon characters, flowers . to make a difference.

The existence of the resort after the earthquake helps the above-mentioned house design attract the growing attention of people throughout the country. The Japan Dome House, which designs and builds this house, says it sells about 100 units a year.
