Material from red mud
The research team of the Institute of Materials Science has come up with the idea of turning red mud into useful materials for society.
Accordingly, the red mud after being heat-treated, filtered to remove impurities and toxic compounds are dried, finely ground, mixed with additives, shaped and put into the press to give Product out.

The research team has produced many useful products such as adsorbent, alum-type coagulant materials, construction materials such as low density aerated concrete, brick blocks, inorganic adhesives. cement form, some additives for roads .
Mr. Nguyen Quy Steel, Sub-Institute of Rare Elements (Institute of Materials Science) said that, if invested in deep research, widely deployed, this will surely be a big source of competitive materials and replace those materials when their prices are increasing.
According to the current bauxite mining plan in the Central Highlands, Vietnam will produce about 7 million tons of alumina equivalent to 10 million tons of red mud every year. If by 2025 this figure is 15 million tons of alumina equivalent to 23 million tons of red mud discharged.
