Measures to avoid 5 common errors when burning discs

At the present time, CD / DVD recorders and optical discs are all mature and stable products, but if you are not careful, burning can still cause problems. Here are the 5 most common burning errors and how to prevent them.

1. You do not check

Picture 1 of Measures to avoid 5 common errors when burning discs

Figure 1 : Requires a burning software to check if the CD / DVD is successfully recorded.

If there is a golden rule for burning, then it is "Always check". Using the test (or evaluation) feature of the burning software to compare what has been written with what has been read is the best barrier to prevent unexpected problems from occurring in the process. done (Figure 1). The test feature does not increase the chance of burning successfully but will notify you of a timely problem to proceed with recording another disc. Many of the tasks seem to have been successful but generate an error when done - not because the disk is damaged but because the data is not good to start.

2. Disc is not suitable

Under ideal conditions, choosing the right type of disc is not a difficult problem. Imagine if you and your friends want to see your family's photo collection stored on DVD but your friend's DVD player cannot read this type of disc, it's awkward! This example shows that you should choose the right type of disk that you know for sure both your and others' machines support.

If you buy a blank, unbranded CD / DVD, you should follow the golden rule described in item 1 (check) and prepare to receive some broken discs. In the experience of many users, blank DVD discs are often more reliable than blank CDs, but in general, the cheaper the disk price, the more fragile the disc.

3. Writing speed is too high

Figure 2 : Choose a slower burning speed to limit errors during execution.

Nobody likes to wait too long to burn a disc. However, choosing the fastest writing speed is not always the best strategy. Some CD-R and DVD - R discs can record data at the highest speed while many others cannot. Once you decide to take the time to consider what is going on, it is best to reduce the speed to one step (Figure 2). Unless using a stopwatch, in general you never notice the difference between recording speeds, for example between 18x and 16x.

4. Using software incorrectly

With increasingly fierce competition, firmware or software that comes with the burner may not be perfect. Most of them will definitely be upgraded (or soon), so if you are not satisfied with the effectiveness of the burning software in use, you can proceed to the update yourself by searching on the vendor's website. export. In addition, there is another truth: " If you don't fail, don't fix it " because the updates themselves often cause problems. If your reader still writes the disc well, keep the burning software in use. (even manufacturers will advise you so). But if something goes wrong when switching to a different brand, it's likely that a new firmware or software will help you.

5. Run too many apps at once

Currently, most computers are "overpowered" to perform many other tasks at the same time while burning discs. However, as mentioned above, users will sometimes encounter dark working days, such as software that suddenly burns "off the horse" at the end of the end. You will increase your chances of success if you minimize the number of running applications when you are burning. This does not mean that you have to avoid having the system handle multitasking (multitasking) or require the burning program to operate in the background operation mode.
