Sony has officially sold single-layer Blu-ray DVD discs on May 9, all of which are equipped with advanced Blu-ray burning technology called AccuCORE. Two-layer Blu-ray discs will be officially sold in early June 2006.
These Blu-ray discs are capable of recording data at 2x speed, ie data transfer rates can reach 72 Megabits per second (about 9 MB per second). AccuCORE is a form of Blu-ray burning technology with very high stability and flexibility.
