Methods to cure language disorders

Recent research shows that movement and cognitive skills are related to each other.

Specifically, George Town University's Medical Research Center said finding the right-left hemisphere link in hearing could help them find a way to make stroke patients recover their ability. language, improve the ability to recognize the voice of children with dyslexia.

The results of this study were presented at the annual meeting of neuroscientists in 2012. This is the first time a link has been found between the right and left brains in the speech process. Before this study, brain imaging tests all yielded different results.

By finding a link between the left and right hemispheres of the brain with sound change,
Scientists hope to find a way to cure language disorders.

Researcher Peter E.Turkeltaub, Ph.D., a neurologist at the Brain Rehabilitation and Rehabilitation Center, said: 'The language is mostly processed in the left brain, and some people think that the brain the left set is responsible for analyzing sound changes'. Turkeltaub and his team hid the quick and slow changes of sound in the background of noise. Then they asked 24 participants to see if they could hear the sounds that were hidden (by pressing the button).

We asked them to use the right hand to press the button to answer the first 20 hidden sounds, then use the left hand to answer the next 20 sounds, and so on. When using the right hand, they hear more sounds faster when using their left hand and vice versa. Because the left hemisphere is used to control the right hand and vice versa, this proves that the two hemispheres are responsible for different types of sounds. The left hemisphere seems to specialize in fast-changing sounds such as consonants and hemispheres of the right brain that specialize in slow-changing sounds such as syllables and intonation. This result also shows the link between the motor and cognitive system.

Turkeltaub also hopes that understanding how the hearing organ is organized and how it works together with the motor system will explain why language is controlled by the left hemisphere and this can help find out ways to treat language disorders.
