Microsoft.co.uk is hacked

The official Microsoft domain in the UK has been hacked and 'smeared' by a hacker identified with the name rEmOtEr. Microsoft confirmed the attack of this name was successful.

This rEmOtEr name has replaced the site in the Microssoft.co.uk domain with 2 images and many references to the Arab kingdom. Details of this hacked Microsoft website are available here.

Microsoft branch in the UK has overcome the damage, the website has returned to normal operation.

Roger Halbheer, Microsoft's security consultant in Europe, the Middle East and Africa, acknowledged that the attack was successful and said the whole incident was a risk.

According to Microsoft, no confidential information was stolen in this attack. This is a very clear sign of a hacked performance that is not intentionally destructive.

Another argument supporting this view is that rEmOtEr illustrated the hack in two separate videos. You can see the details of the hack directly through the "remoter_vs_microsoft.avi" files.

Halbheer explained that the main cause of the hack could be because the database was allowed to resend error messages. The attack can be done through a SQL injection-related "trick" (a technique that allows attackers to execute illegal SQL query statements).

By SQL injection technique, rEmOtEr can access the database. In the two videos, you will see how easy it is for this hacker to have both a username and password. From this error message to another error message, rEmOtEr can finally convert the SQL query questions into instructions directly to the database.
