Hurricane Nesat is expected to land along the eastern coast of Luzon island of the Philippines from September 26 morning. After that, heavy rain will pour into areas a few hundred kilometers from the coast, including the capital Manila, AFP reported.

The National Disaster Risk Management and Mitigation Council said that 111,930 people in five Albay cities were asked to evacuate to a safe place to prevent landslides and flash floods.

"We think the storm will cause many dangerous phenomena like landslides, flash floods, strong winds," said Robert Sawi, senior government weather forecaster.

Sawi said the storm warning was issued in most of Luzon Island, home to more than 48 million people, or more than half of the Philippines population.

The National Meteorological Agency announced that the wind speed in the center of the storm Nesat reached 150 km / h, while the wind speed near the center of the storm was 120 km / h. An area with a radius of 650km will receive an equivalent amount of rainfall of 25 mm / hour. The storm will continue to be stronger in the coming days.

The storms caused by Typhoon Nesat could also affect the southern island of Mindanao. The water in a large river on the island overflowed because of heavy rain from last week, killing two people and evacuating 11,000 households.
