Morocco will produce electricity from solar energy
On November 2, Morocco launched an ambitious solar power project, with a capacity of up to 2,000 MW and a total investment of US $ 9 billion.
Done from now until 2020 on an area of 10,000 ha, this project will be implemented in 5 locations: Ouarzazate, Laayoune and Boujdour (Sahara), Tarfaya (south of Agadir city) and Ain Beni Mathar.
According to the Energy and Mine Minister, Anima Benkhadra, when implemented, this project will help Morocco save 1 million tons of oil each year, equivalent to $ 500 million and help the country reduce emissions. is 3.7 million tons / year.
In 2020, when this program comes into operation, it will meet 42% of electricity demand in Morocco./.
