Mysterious city is earthquake more than 30 times / month

Norseman City, western Australia suffered 33 earthquakes in July. A month earlier, almost every day Norseman had an earthquake.

The first, 5-magnitude quake, rocked the city on May 28, at midnight. An hour later, an earthquake was stronger than 5.1 degrees.

John Fry, a local government official, said he had heard a loud rumble at midnight but didn't know it was an earthquake."I just thought there was a train going by. The last thing to think about is an earthquake."

Since then, Norseman residents have been confronted with successive aftershocks after the two major earthquakes. The seismic attacks occurred continuously from 2.7 degrees to 4.2 degrees, except for the 5.6-magnitude earthquake in early July, the Express reported.

The seismologist Hugh Glanville of the Geoscience Australia National Geological Survey said the phenomenon is a classical dynamic sequence , which can be explained.

"When a large piece of the road breaks down strongly, it will put pressure on other parts of the fault line. Therefore, the adjacent areas of the fault line will also move to release the pressure that has just been transferred. to it ".

Norseman residents are also no stranger to earthquakes. In 1985, the city suffered an earthquake of 5.6 degrees, and then a series of aftershocks.

The seismologist Dan Jaksa of Geoscience Australia said: "The aftershock chain usually happens about 5 years after the earthquake, with a magnitude of 3-4 magnitudes, and gradually decreases until it is finally over. This year, they I saw the same thing again. "

Jaksa admitted, there is currently no way to know if this aftershock will last up to 5 years.

It is forecasted that in the next few months, the city will still suffer from aftershocks.
