Mysterious creatures exist under 740m thick ice in Antarctica

Experts are extremely surprised to find many small organisms that exist under thick ice in Antarctica.

Recently, scientists were surprised to discover a creature living under a 740m thick ice in Antarctica. This creature is identified as a small fish with light pinkish green color, about 15cm long with a fairly clear skin, which can be seen to blur the internal organs.

Professor Ross Powell, an ice geologist at Northern Illinois University, said: "This organism was discovered by chance when our team put a camera through the ice to look at the ice below. Continuing to bring the camera down under the ice, experts also caught two or three other smaller fish species - black and orange. We also discovered some crustaceans like red shrimp.

Scientists say these findings reverse the long-held hypothesis that the harsh environment in Antarctica - where there is no sunlight, can hardly survive, even for microorganisms.

Experts say the biological mechanism allows these crustaceans or fish to survive in the harsh habitats and where their food sources are still mysterious.

A hypothesis was suggested that the food source for these organisms could be plankton grown in nearby seas, then swept down to the rocks.

Besides, perhaps the energy inside the Earth's core, not the Sun, helps these creatures to survive and grow.
