Mysterious human coffin on the cliff edge in Peru

In Karajia, near the city of Chachapoyas, there are impressive graves. Two-meter-tall coffins made of brick embryos (earthen and dried bricks) stand on the edge of a cliff, some still tracing the original paint patterns from centuries ago. The face on the sarcophagus looked down majestically as if dominating the verdant valley within senseless eyes.

About 30 miles from Chachapoyas in northwestern Peru, under the Utcubamba valley is a mysterious craggy cliff. The 1928 earthquake caused the hills and mountains to shake vigorously, rocks falling into the river accompanied by impressive shapes.

These are the humanoid land figures about 7 feet tall (about 2.5m) with the head having a wide jaw similar to the statue on Easter Island (Chile).

Shortly after the earthquake, scientists have found seven more sarcophagus that have "overslept" for centuries here.

The carbon analysis experiments were applied and the results showed that these ancient sarcophagus dates back to 1470 - the time when Chachapoya residents were subjected to repression by the Incas. There are no specific documents explaining the specific reason for this cremation. One can only speculate that they want the dead to rest and escape when near the sky.

The sarcophagus is made of a mixture of clay, straw and hollow pebbles, the inside contains mummies. Several sarcophagus are also found nearby. Some are "decorated" with a human skull placed on top of the head. The cause or purpose of this macabre ornament is still a mystery. These clay works have existed for over 600 years.
