Mysterious giant figures in Peru

More than 1,000 giant painting works deep in the sandy arid lands of southern Peru are the products of a civilization that had been destroyed about 1,500 years ago.

The Nazca's giant figures on flat areas bordering the south of Peru have been discovered since 1939. Thousands of tourists come to Peru every year to admire the Nazca's masterpieces. But so far, it has not been understood why the Nazca people created giant figures and what role they play in their lives.

According to scientists, giant figures in the desert were made by artisans of the Nazca civilization at least 2,000 years ago. Some drawings are up to 300 meters long and one can observe them from the plane.Photo: National Geographic.

The Nazca lived in valleys in southern Peru from 200 BC to 500 AD. Remains of the remnants show that this tribe is very skillful, romantic and talented. The Nazca pottery, handicraft products, ornaments and textile products are beautiful and sophisticated. Their civilization declined and died from about 1,500 years ago. The cause of the disappearance of the Nazca civilization is also a great mystery like their giant painting masterpieces.
