NASA destroyed the missile after the failed launch

The US Space Agency destroyed an unmanned test missile - carrying a pair of research satellites - as it flew away from orbit shortly after takeoff.

There has been no record of a person being injured or damaged, but NASA warns that debris from the explosion could be dangerous. The agency also believes that most of the debris falls into the Atlantic Ocean, off the state of Virginia.

Officials said the missile was destroyed remotely only 27 seconds after yesterday's departure. It is still unclear why it flipped its orbit. Missiles are destroyed to avoid danger to the community.
