Nearly one-third of species of plants and animals are in danger of extinction because of climate change

In a report published April 6, leading UN scientists said nearly one-third of the world's plant and animal species are threatened with extinction due to climate change.
'About 20-30% of plants and animals are threatened with extinction if the global average temperature increases by more than 1.5-2.5 degrees Celsius,' the report said.
According to the report, many ecosystems will be overloaded in this century due to unprecedented changes in climate and natural disasters such as floods, droughts and forest fires. The consequences of human activities such as altered land, pollution, overexploitation of resources . make the situation worse.
Experts also warn that the increase in global average temperature and CO2 emissions in the air will cause major changes in the structure and function of the ecosystem.
In February, the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) reported that in the last century, the global average temperature has increased by about 0.74 degrees Celsius and could increase by 1.8 - 4 degrees Celsius by 2100 compared to the current temperature.
