Nearly thousands of coins were collected in the belly of Thai sea turtles

The sea turtle named "Bank" has a habit of eating coins that tourists drop into a water tank in Sri Racha city, Thailand for many years. This unhealthy habit is only interfered with when the Bank turtle eats too many coins, it tore the abdomen.

Recently, the Thai veterinarian performed the surgery, taking out 915 coins from the Bank turtle belly. The coin weighs nearly 5kg and is worth the equivalent of 2,000 Thai baht (about 1.2 million dong).

The surgery lasts 4 hours.

5 surgeons from Chulalongkorn University performed a 4-hour operation while Bank turtle was anesthetized. The amount of coins is too large so every time the doctors only pick up some odd coins from the belly of the turtle. Many coins were worn out almost all.

Pasakorn Briksawan, one of the surgeons, said: "The results are very satisfactory. Now wait for Bank to recover." In the next two weeks, Bank turtle can only eat liquid pumped into the esophagus.
