New armor for astronauts

In Russia is completing the process of testing new jumpsuits for use in the space called "Orlan-ISS". This is the first armor kit in the world to have a climate control system. And if you put small changes into the design, you can wear this armor when walking on the Moon.

The first cosmic armor was built in the Soviet Union in the 1950s.This 'jumpsuit ' was originally designed for the first dogs to fly into space. Then in 1960, the Soviet designers were able to tailor the suit for Yuri Gagarin. This special outfit is called SK-1. In essence, it is a protective suit, equipped with an automatic life support system in case of emergency emergencies.

In 1964, the leadership of the Soviet Union passed a decision about a sensational new experiment - organizing for people to step out into space. In order to carry out this task, it is required to have other clothes in principle. The armor for open-air "walks" needs to ensure multiple tasks - protect the wearer from overheating and sudden cold transfer, avoiding glare by solar radiation and celestial bodies. . But the most important thing is that astronauts need to move freely and do the job when carrying this armor.

Thus, there was a new jumpsuit 'Berkut'. In March 1965, Soviet astronaut Aleksei Leonov wore this outfit and made the first trip in the world to the immense space. 'Berkut' is like a giant thermos bottle, consisting of plastic covers covered with aluminum, and on the back there is a life support system with ventilation fans and two oxygen tanks of 2 liters capacity.

"Berkut " life assurance system is calculated for 45 minutes of open space presence. But after Leonov's successful "walk" , there was a question about the "walking out of space" for longer periods of time. Requires a new armor kit, guaranteed for 2.5 hours outside the cabin. This new program, called "Yastreb", was in such a dress, that in 1969, Soviet astronauts safely moved from one spacecraft to another.

The third type of armor is designed to serve the purpose of humans landing on the Moon's surface. The suit must ensure the wearer can be present for up to 10 hours on the Moon. However, the Soviet moon subjugation program was closed. There is an invention of the space-based prototype on the basis of "Orlan".

Since 1977, "Orlan" is the only space suit that Soviet and Russian astronauts work on still using. During this time, several variants of specialized costumes were created. The final armor suit is 'Orlan-ISS'. It is the first jumpsuit in the world to be equipped with an automatic temperature control system that can adjust itself to lower the temperature inside when Increasing the level of astronauts' carbon dioxide and body heat working in space outside the vessel, and when needed, the temperature will be raised, thanks to the use of new materials, the space armor is durable. The operation increased by nearly half compared to the old models.

If disassembling the pants is designed specifically for the weightless environment, and instead is dedicated to the Moon, along with special boots with rotating bearings under the sole, we will have space suits. "Orlan-ISS" to land on the Moon. Three new space suits will be sent to ISS International Space Station next year.
