New cicada species in the Central Highlands
Scientists have announced that new cicadas were discovered during the survey in a national park in Gia Lai province.

Semia gialaiensis Pham & Constant , 2013 cicadas are named after the sample collected.
According to the Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology, this species has a body length of 32.8 - 33.4mm; the front wing is 43.1- 44.6mm long; width of head 8.7-9.1mm. They have a different genital structure from other semia species.
The specimen of the species was collected at Kon Ka Kinh National Park, Gia Lai province. Standard samples and sub-standard samples are kept at the Institute of Ecology and Biological Resources, under the Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology.
