New spiders resemble Harry Potter's magic hat
Scientists found that the only 7mm long spider in India's forest had the same shape as the Sorting Hat in Harry Potter.
Indian researchers decided to name the new spider found in the Kan forest on the Western Ghats, India is Eriovixia gryffindori due to its shape similar to the Magic Sorting Hat in Harry Potter, Seeker December 12 reported.

"When I was young, I enjoyed reading Harry Potter stories. So when I caught this little spider, I thought of the magic hat," said Javed Ahmed, lead author of the study.

The spider is only 7mm long. According to experts, the hat-like shape helps it camouflage in dry leaves during the day, protecting itself from enemies.
