New Zealand caught the giant squid

The fishermen in this country caught squid weighing up to 450 kg and 10 meters long in Antarctic waters. This is the biggest model that people have gained so far.

According to Fisheries Minister Jim Anderton, fishermen catching large Patagonian fishes in the deep waters of Antarctica caught the squid, which was eating fish: 'The ink is almost dead when it emerges. , and the crew must be very careful to keep it intact. ' It took 2 hours to get it to the ship. Fishermen freeze squid and bring it back to New Zealand for scientists to study.

'This is probably the giant male model in the first intact ever collected,' Anderton said.

Giant squid Mesonychoteuthis Hamiltoni lives in the deep sea of the Antarctic. This species was first discovered in 1925 but very few samples were found. The first squid of this type was found in its entirety, a 150 kg squid, captured in the Ross Sea near the Antarctic coast in April 2004.
