Some countries in the world have developed and applied quite a lot of vegetable oil or animal fat as fuel (also called biodiesel).

There is no standard for biodiesel in Vietnam. However, the preparation of vegetable oils or animal fats for blending as biodiesel must ensure a strict process. The regulation of the European standard for biodiesel (E.DIN 51606) includes many criteria but has three important criteria: viscosity within the limits of 3.5 - 5.5mm2 / sec; target of total glyceride is less than 1%; Free glycerin is less than 0.02% .

The content of substances in biodiesel has met the above criteria or not depends greatly on the process of preparation and preparation techniques. If the viscosity in the biodiesel is too high, it will reduce the engine's ability to spray oil, leading to an obstruction.

Similarly, if the composition of total glyceride is too high in the composition of biodiesel, in the process of engine operation, under the impact of temperature, they will form polymer products and that is the main cause of congestion. oil spray. Meanwhile, if the free glycerin component is too high, it will not only affect the detonation, but itself is an explosive substance (at the same time, when it explodes, it will produce very high heat), even out of control , the machine is hotter than usual, leading to machine damage.

So, in my opinion, the ratio of mixing biodiesel (derived from animal fats, for example) is not as important as the quality of biodiesel preparation. It is the quality of new biodiesel that directly affects the process of engine operation, and biodiesel, if there are some indicators that are not controlled at a permitted limit, it will cause damage to diesel engine. . That is not to mention the unsatisfactory biodiesel will create toxic substances in emissions such as NOx is the cause of cancer (if regularly inhaled this type of smoke).

Also need to say, if biodiesel production from fish fat to comply with the technological process and quality assurance, biodiesel has a pleasant aroma, but if you still feel the fishy smell of fish, it is a product yet. Complete, which means there is still plenty of protein in the triglyceride component and dissolved in the product. Mono-di-triglyceride forms are a major cause of non-explosive, occlusive and hot conditions.
