North America continues to sink in snowstorms and tornadoes
Bad weather continued to sweep across North America when dozens of violent tornadoes appeared in many states that caused heavy losses in people and property. Meanwhile, temperatures in some parts of Canada dropped to minus 40 degrees Celsius, leaving at least two people dead and many schools and administrative offices closed.
According to the US Meteorological Agency (NWS), there are at least 31 tornadoes recorded in many states in the United States and the number of deaths due to bad weather is increasing. The whirlwinds are approaching the northeastern United States and are most likely to become snowstorms.
Meanwhile in Canada, a winter depression spilled through the Montreal area, making it nearly half a meter thick of snow, leading to road and air traffic shortages. Ontario roads become slippery and about 80,000 households suffer from power outages due to snow storms that disrupt the power transmission system.
According to local authorities, two people were killed by traffic accidents in a snowstorm. Many schools and administrative offices in southwestern Quebec are closed. And in some places in Canada, the temperature drops to minus 40 degrees Celsius . According to Canadian meteorological authorities, snowstorms are moving eastward in the country.
