According to research results, the temperature of obese people may not be lower than those of lean people, contrary to a theory of what may cause some people to gain weight.

The idea comes from the fact that the temperature inside the body is colder, which means less heat to burn calories. This has also been studied on animal bodies.

" Some people think that temperature can be a factor, " said Jack Yanovski, a senior researcher at the American Institute for Child Health and Human Development and a research participant. slow metabolic processes ".

Picture 1 of Obesity is related to body temperature

Previous research has found that, compared to normal mice, transgenic obese mice have lower body temperature and also have slower metabolism and more appetite . However, Mr. Yanovski said, he and his colleagues did not find any evidence to prove this in human research.

Experts have compared the average internal temperature of a group of obese adults with a leaner group. Experimental subjects must swallow a heat sensor to monitor the internal body temperature within 24 hours. The results showed that there was no difference in the temperature inside the body of the two groups, their average temperature was 36.9 degrees Celsius.

In another experiment, similar heat sensors were used to measure the internal body temperature of 19 obese people and 11 people with normal weight within 48 hours. Subjects must record the activity list while conducting the experiment. Again, there were no abnormal differences in the internal temperature of these two groups, even though their experiments were twice as long as the two groups participating in the previous experiment.

Mr. Yanovski said that not most obese subjects are cooler inside but in certain obese subjects, the lower internal temperature may have some impact on their body weight.
