Over 31 billion VND protects Tram Chim National Park

Dong Thap province has approved planning and invested more than VND 31 billion for monitoring the flooding regime and forest fire prevention in the National Park (NP) Tram Chim. This planning and investment aims to conserve and sustainably develop Tram Chim National Park in the period of 2013-2020.

Accordingly, Tram Chim National Park establishes a technical mechanism for the management of submerged regimes in functional zones to meet the objectives of conserving wetland habitats and rare and precious plant and animal species; At the same time, it contributes to minimizing conditions for forest fires and grasslands in the dry season. Planning the operation system and management mechanism for flooding in the dry season to serve as a basis for the management of Melaleuca, grassland and biodiversity.

The garden also completed the Regulation on management of medium hydrological regime to meet the submerged characteristics of each type of habitat, while preventing the burning of melaleuca and grassland; planning for conservation and sustainable development of cajuput forests, seasonally inundated grasslands and other wetland habitats; Preserving rare and precious water birds, especially red-headed cranes .

Planning solutions for forest fire prevention and fighting and grassland in the dry season with the participation of buffer zone communities and local forces; develop plans for forest fire prevention and fighting; construction of infrastructure and procurement of fire prevention, fighting equipment, equipment and facilities.

In the dry season of 2013, Tram Chim National Park was unified by Dong Thap Provincial People's Committee to propose water pump area A2 (forest area of over 700 ha) to keep the forest moisture and grass burning proactively prevent and fight against forest fire and burning grass. in the field with a total area of 640 hectares. The objective of this option is to reduce the amount of fire material in the forest; creating a white fire runway spreading from the grassland area to the Melaleuca forest area.

Based on the current status of the forest and grassland, the Park determines the location of the white bandage cutting and grass burning in the subdivisions. The park also carried out grass burning to restore the performance of the A1, A3, A4, and A5 areas with a total area of 370 ha to reduce the vegetation layer to facilitate the growth and creation of the tubers. Therefore, in the dry season, Tram Chim Park has limited the occurrence of forest fires.

The Park's long-term goal is to protect and conserve a special-use forest with typical landscapes, unique wetland ecosystems, rare and precious fauna and flora species of the Plain of Reeds.
