Overview of the observatory of the Vietnam Space Center

As PV reported on August 18, Vietnam Space Center (VNSC), Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology held a ceremony to hand over the technique of Nha Trang Observatory.

Starting construction in 2014, Nha Trang Observatory is located in Hon Chong (Nha Trang, Khanh Hoa) which is one of the two Observatories which was built in the framework of the Vietnam Space Center project. The second observatory is under construction at Hoa Lac Hi-Tech Park (Hanoi), scheduled to be operational in 2018.

The Nha Trang Observatory's telescope is a reflecting optical telescope .Some of the studies that can be carried out on this system are: observing variable stars, thereby conducting atmospheric research (thickness, cloudiness, blindness);measure the spectral lines of stars to obtain information about star types, rotational speeds and magnitude of magnetic fields on the stellar surface;measuring the radial velocity of the host to search for exoplanets;measure the rotation speed of some planets .
