Farmer Vic Phillips of Rooksbridge village, Somerset county for Eric calf (of the Aberdeen Angus hornless breed of Scottish origin) mating with Jemima cows (Swiss red-faced Simmental breed) . When Jemima gave birth, Phillips gladly welcomed the two calves. But then he was stunned to find that they belonged to two different species. One has a golden brown fur and the same breed as the mother, while the other is black, brown and the same as his father.

Phillips said: 'Such things are very rare. When cows give birth to twins, two calves often share the same breed. Certainly an incident has occurred. My family just raised cattle for two and a half years and this is the first pair of calves of the farm. I only have one bull, so Jemima's ability to mate with another cow cannot happen . ' The health of two calves is good.

Ron McHattie, president of the Aberdeen Angus Cow Association, admitted that he had never heard a similar story in his life. 'I don't know why such a thing could happen. If the cow mates with two males of two different breeds on the same day, it is possible that two eggs are fertilized. As a result, cows will produce two calves belonging to two species. But in Jemima's case, there is only one male , ' he said.
