Pakistan closes the zoo for bird flu
Authorities closed the zoo in Pakistan's capital Islamabad after discovering a number of jobs and the geese were infected with the H5N1 virus. Pakistan has also killed many birds in the zoo to prevent the spread of disease.
With the discovery of the H5N1 virus in four peacocks and one to two geese, Pakistan had the fourth outbreak of the disease this month. It is known that this zoo is a favorite destination for many Pakistani children with all kinds of animals such as elephants, monkeys .
"We will close the zoo within 3 days. During this time we will vaccinate uninfected birds and kill those suspected of being infected," said Raja Javed, zoo director .
The zoo also said that 14 to 15 crows had been found earlier and it was very likely that the ravens had brought the source of the disease to the birds raised in the zoo.
