Pakistan produces iPad
Inside the heavily fortified building of the Pakistan Air Force is the creation of not only fighter jets and weapons systems, but also the latest version of the iPad tablet.
An air base in Kamra, northern Pakistan, is where electronic science is applied in aviation and also where PACPAD is assembling 1.
'The original version is iPad, the copy is PACPAD ,' said Mohammad Imran, who is in a warehouse of such a product in a computer and mobile phone store in Rawalpindi trade center, not far from Kamra and the tower. Pakistani military headquarters, said.
A computer shop owner in Pakistan is holding a PACPAD tablet 1.
PACPAD runs on Android 2.3, Google's free operating system. The price of this product is about 200 USD, less than half the price of Apple or Samsung products, even cheaper than Chinese tablets. PACPAD buyers also get an extra year of warranty.
PAC is the abbreviation for Pakistan Aeronautical Complex, which is the tablet manufacturer. This unit also produces e-books and laptops. PAC manufactures PACPAD with Hong Kong Innavtek partner.
Only a few hundred PACPAD units have been produced so far, and a new batch of products will be completed in the next 3 months. Some people suspect that this frivolous project will never be put into mass production.
When tested, the 7-inch PACPAD seemed to run well and the screen image was sharp.
The project is still in the testing phase and is just one of many Pakistani military investment items, in addition to many land projects, sugar production, flour, consumer business, tourism, even a whole grain brand.
China is considered a trusted partner of the Pakistani military. Meanwhile, despite pouring many billions of dollars into this country, the US is still considered an enemy.
