PayPal fixes a serious security error
Online payment service provider PayPal said it has overcome a serious security vulnerability that arises on its websites to prevent phishing attacks.
Successful exploitation of this vulnerability could allow malicious attackers to redirect users who are accessing a PayPal website to another "online trap" stored (hosted) in Korea.
The dangerous website that attackers use has a real PayPal URL link, but contains dangerous code that allows a message to warn users that their payment account has stolen. In fact, the site is a web site for phishing purposes.
When transferred to these sites, victims will be required to enter their PayPal account login information, Netcraft experts said in a warning message.
" As soon as we learned about this security vulnerability and this new phishing attack, we made some changes to the source code on our websites. This type of phishing attack or Other similar methods are no longer effective , "said Amanda Pires, PayPal spokesman, in an interview.
