The " 2117 Mars " project was announced at the 5th Global Government Summit in Dubai, which lasted from February 12-14. The presenter is Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the Vice President and UAE Prime Minister.
" The human landing on another planet is a long-held dream. The UAE will lead international efforts to make this dream a reality, " Maktoum said.
According to the preliminary presentation of the "2117 Mars" project, the UAE intends to build a city on Mars about the size of Chicago, USA. If the project goes smoothly, humans will turn Mars into a colony and become Mars.
Over the next few decades, the international team of UAE scientists will seek to fly to Mars as quickly as possible. They considered many ideas to meet the basic needs of people on the red planet, such as providing food, energy and transportation.
In 2014, the UAE invested $ 5.4 billion to build the similar UAE Space Agency European Space Agency (ESA) to study Mars. The agency's first mission, "Martian Hope", is expected to start in 2021.
