Mandy Sellars, 32, from Lancashire, suffers from Proteus syndrome - a disease that once affected ' elephant ' Joseph Merrick (born 1862 in Leicester, with an elephant-like face). She said she was diagnosed with the disease in May 2006, and since then she has met many other people who have the same disease. ' I want to find people who have this disease, and can contact them to know the experiences to live with the disease,' she said.

Mandy graduated from the University of Central Lancashire psychology. Talking about her future surgery, she said: 'Maybe I will have a different life, and I can do many things that I cannot do now.'
