The Department of Aeronautical Investigation (DIFAA) includes not only members of the Peruvian Air Force but also sociologists, archaeologists and astronomers. The organization is tasked with analyzing mysterious events related to UFOs, news agency Andina said.
DIFAA was founded in 2001, but was closed five years ago. Meanwhile, similar agencies have been established in Brazil, Argentina and Chile.
The cause of the Peruvian government's decision to revive the agency was "increasing the number of reports of unusual events" that occurred in the country.
According to Peruvian media, the people of Marabamba town this week continuously saw mysterious glowing objects in the sky.
