Petrol mixed with ethanol is similar to regular gasoline
Many argue that ethanol blended gasoline produces a cleaner fuel than normal gasoline, but Canadian researchers draw a contradictory conclusion.
According to the Canadian CBC, Canadian Environment Department scientists have studied four new vehicles produced, testing exhaust gases under different driving conditions and temperatures. They noted that ethanol-fueled cars are no less polluting than normal gasoline-powered vehicles.
'If you look at exhaust gases from the exhaust and pay attention to the greenhouse effect, there is not much difference between ethanol and gasoline,' said Grege Rideout, a specialist in toxic waste research. According to the Ministry of Environment.
Canadian researchers have made comparisons between unleaded gasoline and gasoline containing 10% ethanol. Although research has shown that carbon oxide reduction, a pollutant that causes fog formation, other emissions such as hydrocarbons increase in some conditions.
But advocates of ethanol use, including Environment Minister John Baird, claim that ethanol-fueled vehicles also have the advantage. They stressed that ethanol is a source of renewable energy that causes little greenhouse effect.
