Emissions from hazardous ethanol are no less than gasoline engines

The Brazilian Ministry of the Environment recently released a report saying that when using ethanol fuel as a fuel for automobile engines, pollution emissions are not less than those of conventional gasoline engines.

The report took three gases, including carbon monoxide , hydrocarbons and nitrogen oxide as indicators, based on a " clean level " of 0 ~ 10, to assess the health impact of humans.

Although the three gases listed on the ' cleanness ' scale do not affect climate change, it will affect human health. Meanwhile, one of the main causes of global climate change due to carbon dioxide emissions is not included in the ' cleanness ' rating. The environment ministry said that the amount of carbon dioxide produced during ethanol combustion is extracted from sugarcane and the amount of carbon dioxide absorbed during the process of sugarcane growth can compensate for each other, so carbon dioxide emissions are not included in this rating.

The report investigated the ' cleanness ' level of 250 cars and used ethanol and gasoline as fuel. Cars that use a variety of fuels are called ' flex-fuel ' cars, currently accounting for 85% of all cars sold in Brazil.

Although the results of the report said that all of the investigated cars did not exceed the highest standard of 2008 emissions of Brazil, but ranked the lowest of which is 8 used cars. Use ethanol or ' flex-fuel ' fuel .

Greenpeace is very supportive of this report, but a Brazilian climate change movement said that when it comes to people's health, the Brazilian government should focus on investing in cell technology. The bowl does not pollute.

Brazil's environment minister said in a report, hoping consumers to buy cars should take into account the car's emissions.
