Philippines: Evacuating to avoid typhoon Mitag
On November 23, Typhoon Mitag got stronger as it approached the Philippines, causing many flights to be canceled, hundreds of thousands of people evacuated. In the Bicol area, located on the path of the storm, people went to churches, schools and town hall to avoid storms, while more than 50,000 others had to leave their homes before the storm came, expected tomorrow.
Disaster officials said 200,000 people were evacuated from Bicol, where volcanic mud could cause lethal landslides. 8 domestic flights to and from Bicol are canceled. More than 800 passengers were trapped after boats were banned from leaving the port.
According to the website of tropicalstormrisk, Typhoon Mitag currently has winds of up to 160 km / h, shocking over 192 km / h and is expected to intensify tomorrow, November 24.
Earlier, another storm, Hurricane Hagibis, also passed through the Philippines, killing 13 people and affecting nearly 30,000 others. Last year, Typhoon Durian killed 1,200 people and left 120,000 people homeless at Bicol.
